I've surpassed achievements of all my predecessors put together, Gov Okorocha boasts

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said he remains in the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite regretting that the party had lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.

The governor spoke on Tuesday at the government house, owerri during a media parley.

Issues have come up between the governor and the leadership of the party following the refusal of the National Working Committee of the party to give his preferred candidate, Uche Nwosu the governorship ticket in the state.

He said that the party’s choice of Senator Hope Uzodinma was a choice against the goodwill of the party faithfuls. He regretted that the APC which was known for uprightness and justice had lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.

He described the process that made Uzodinma the guber candidate as a political injustice putting the blame on the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole whom he described as a simpleton, having been deceived by some disgruntled members of the party.

He maintained that he was still a member of the party being one of the founding fathers of the party in the country.

“I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in building. I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.”

The governor who disclosed that he had the APC ticket for Imo West (Orlu) Senatorial District added that his support for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election was incontestable and unshakable.

The governor also suggested that he is in support of the state governorship candidate, Senator Uzodinma.

According to him, he will “totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.”

Uzodinma by emerging APC candidate, apparently truncated Okorocha avowed position to ensure his son-in-law and former Chief of Staff, Nwosu, succeeds him as the next governor of Imo State.
