Ibadan family heads rally round Olubadan, give ‘Gov Ajimobi’s kings’ 7 days to withdraw deposition threat

The 21 kings installed by the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, have been given seven days to either withdraw their threat to recommend Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, for removal or face the wrath of Ibadan people.

Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis (family heads) gave the ultimatum to the 21 chiefs, whom the state governor had on August 27, 2017 crowned kings.

The ultimatum was in response to the Monday threat by the 21 kings who gave Olubadan a 21-day ultimatum to either be of good conduct or risk being removed from his throne.

The 21 kings had at a press conference at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, alleged that Olubadan had been taking unilateral decisions on behalf of the ‘Olubadan-Kings-in-Council’ and inciting the people against the state government.

But the Ibadan Mogajis on Thursday after its meeting called on eight of the 21 kings to immediately stop parading themselves as Ibadan kings in order to avoid anarchy in the city.

They further called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Ajimobi to stop the disrespect of Olubadan by the 21 kings.
