IBB, OBJ too morally deficient to provide any political compass for Nigeria again —Keyamo

A human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Festus Keyamo, has described the contents of statements from former Presidents, Ibrahim Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo, advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019 as noting to write home about.

He however noted that the message Buhari should not ignore from the statements of the former leaders was addressing the problems currently plaguing the country.

Keyamo stated this in a series of tweets on his twitter handle, describing both Babangida and Obasanjo as expired leaders who illegally cling onto powers until they were chased away by Nigerians.

The tweet read, “The message we can take from d letters of OBJ & IBB is d urgent need 4 govt to address problems plaguing Nigeria. But d message we must reject with d messengers is their roadmap on d way forward. They’re too morally deficient to provide any political compass for this nation again.

“Ironically, these expired leaders, IBB & OBJ, used all the tricks in the books to illegally extend their tenures in office until they were chased away by Nigerians, yet they’re the ones now advising Buhari to give up his LEGAL RIGHT to seek re-election. It’s hypocrisy at its best.”

Both Obasanjo and Babangida had in their separate letter advised Buhari not to seek re-election. They all cited the heightened killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen across the country and other security issues, as well as the perceived failures of Buhari’s government as warranting their position on him not to run.
