Iheanacho, Iwobi chase Champions League victories

Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi will be seeking glory on Tuesday when the UEFA Champions League group-stage opening matches resume.

Iheanacho who created the first goal and scored the second in a 2-1 derby triumph over Manchester United at the weekend, is expected to feature for Manchester City when they host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Etihad.

Apart from the ability to poach chances, Iheanacho is also capable of fulfilling the duties of the modern striker, able to hold the ball up using a physique that belies his age. He is a decent passer for a striker, averaging 78 per cent pass accuracy over this season.

City will be hoping a home advantage will play into their hands against a team they beat twice last season.

Similarly, Alex Iwobi and Arsenal will be guests to French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Iwobi should be pushing for a starting spot after recovering from injury and featuring in Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Southampton in the English Premier League on Saturday at the Emirates.

The Nigerian international who missed the Gunners’ last two games due to a muscle injury came on for Theo Walcot in the 74th minute in what is his second appearance this season after featuring in the Gunners opening day defeat to Liverpool.
