Iheanacho, Iwobi nominated for Europe young best player

Super Eagles’ duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi have been nominated for best U- 21 players in Europe.

The list was compiled and released by the organisers of the prestigious Golden Boy award.

19- year old Iheanacho has displayed a wonderful performance so far scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances last season and has 3 goals in 7 matches this season for his club Manchester City.

A similar feat has been achieved by Arsenal’ young star, Alex Iwobi who recently won the man of the match after the game against Chelsea and has 1 goal and 3 assists in 5 appearances in the EPL.

Also included, was also another Nigerian born player, Dele Alli, who plays for the English national team and Tottenham Hotspurs.

The trio will however compete with highly rated youngsters in Europe like Kingsley Coman and Renato Sanchez of Bayern Munich. Iheanacho’s teammate Leroy Sane was also nominated for his exploit while at Schalke 04.

Other players on the list, from the English Premier League include Demarai Gray of Leicester City, Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea and Liverpool’s Marko Grujic.
