Iheanacho to join Leicester City 'soon'

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho will “soon” be moving to former Premier League champions, Leicester City, reveals Leicester vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

The Manchester City striker, who has scored 21 goals in 64 games in all competitions since making his debut in 2015, has been rarely given a start under manager Pep Guardiola.

And Guardiola has repeatedly mentioned the fact that the Manchester club are ready to let the 20-year old leave this summer.

But according to Leicester Mercury, Srivaddhanaprabha has confirmed Leicester will sign “at least one more” player this transfer window, with Iheanacho expected to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer.

“Yes, we have interest in him (Iheanacho),” he was quoted to have said.

“But we have to wait for Manchester City’s stance on this, as they are still in their pre-season as well. If it happens, it will be soon.

“Leicester City’s transfer market is not over yet. We just signed three players and there will be at least one more.

“We aim for a top-10 position this season. If we start well in the first half of the season, then we will also expand our focus to cup competitions.”

Leicester have reportedly made a £25 million offer for Iheanacho. And if the deal pulls through, Iheanacho would join his compatriots Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa at the King Power Stadium.
