Six Imo lawmakers dump AA, APGA for PDP

The Governor-elect in Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has won a case before the Federal Court sitting in Owerri challenging his emergence as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, representing Imo East in the Senate, had approached the court seeking to nullify the victory of Ihedioha.

Anyanwu told the court to declare him winner of the PDP gubernatorial primary election in the State alleging Ihedioha of engaging in over voting, thuggery, which he alleged, swayed the polls in his favour.

Justice Tijani Ringim who delivered judgement on Thursday pointed out that the plaintiff did not convince the court on the prayers he sought.

The judge said the court could not establish the fact in his claims and therefore dismissed the suit for lack of proof.

Ihedioha reportedly won the gubernatorial primary election of the party conducted in Owerri on October 1, 2018, polling 1,723 votes to defeat Senator Anyanwu, who polled 1,282 votes.
