Raheem Agbaje-Salami, 42, one of three Nigerians marked for execution in Indonesia, has written to his Indonesian girlfriend, telling her to be strong, and thanking her for being a part of his life.
He is facing execution for trying to smuggling heroin into the country, and authorities have rejected requests for presidential clemency. He was moved Wednesday from a prison in East Java to an Island prison off the southern coast of Java where he is due to be executed with nine other inmates this month.
In the letter, Agbaje-Salami told his girlfriend, Angela Intan, “Thank you for everything, for the time we spent together. Knowing and loving you has been a gift and even though it was only for a short time it has had a deep meaning in my life.
“I want to thank and say goodbye to my beloved sweetheart, Angela Intan, who has stood beside me through happiness and sadness,” he said.
