Immigration suspends passport processing for one month

Nigerians can obtain passports with 10-year validity from December— NIS

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended processing of passports and migrant e-Registration for one month.

This was made know to the public in a statement on Monday by Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede.

The service Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, who made the statement available to newsmen said the development followed the current outbreak and spread of coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic also known as Covid-19 has continued to rattle the world.

The disease which first broke out in China late last year has now spread to several countries of the world.

Nigeria announced its first death owing to the virus on Monday, March 23 and currently has 40 known cases.
