Okorocha-backed lawmakers, impeach Deputy gov Madumere

Prince Eze Madumere may cease to be the deputy governor of Imo State if lawmakers in the state’s House of Assembly eventually have their way.

The lawmakers are currently in the process to have him impeached after 13 lawmakers signed a petition against him.

The move to impeach the deputy governor as learnt, was moved by the deputy speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo.

The lawmaker accused Madumere of abdicating office as well as being convicted for theft in the United States.

There are speculations however, that the deputy governor’s ongoing travail may not be unconnected with his running battle with the state’s Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Following Okorocha‘s support for his Chief of Staff, who is also his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, to succeed him, his deputy and other All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state appeared to have drawn a battle line against the governor.
