Incredible! Senate says 2016 budget is missing

Published

on

In what may sound incredible and put a lie to a statement credited to the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, faulting reports that the Federal Government had withdrawn the 2016 budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate, Monday said the 2016 budget is missing.

It will be recalled that the social media had been busy with insinuations that the budget must have been withdrawn on the orders of the president, but ofiicials of the FG, including Lai Mohammed, variously denied the withdrawal.

However, Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, announced to Senators on Tuesday, during a closed door session that the budget is missing.

The Senate was billed to commence the consideration of the budget proposal Tuesday but Ndume, according to Senators who spoke under conditions of anonymity, told them the budget proposal was missing at the closed door session that lasted more than 90 minutes.
