INDIA: 40 people trapped after building collapses in densely populated area

Rescue operatives are doing all they can to save lives after no less than 40 people are feared trapped after a residential building collapsed in a densely populated area of Bhendi Bazaar in Mumbai.

According to reports, the four-storey building collapsed around 08:40am (03:10 GMT) after heavy rains in India’s financial capital that have killed more than 10 people.

An official in the control room of India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said at least one body had been pulled from the rubble.
