INEC asks state offices to commence distribution of unclaimed PVCs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has asked its states’ offices to commence the distribution of yet to be collected Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to their owners.

The commission’s Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Nick Dazang, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

According to him, the instruction was part of INEC efforts to make sure that yet to be collected PVCs were handed to their owners.

He said, “It will be recalled that after the 2015 general election, we had over 12 million uncollected PVCs. What the commission did was to direct all states of the federation, including the FCT to strategise ways of distributing the uncollected PVCs that are with them. It is an ongoing exercise.’’

Mr Dazang, noted that no deadline was giving for the distribution of the PVCs. He said that each state will decide on the modality for the distribution.

At least there are about 12 million PVCs not yet collected by their owners according to INEC.
