INEC budgets N6bn to feed policemen during 2019 elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that it is going to feed policemen who will participate during 2019 general elections with N6 billion.

The electoral body stated this in its supplementary budget before the National Assembly, which was considered by House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters on Wednesday.

Apparently surprised that such an amount was budgeted on feeding of policemen alone, the committee had on Wednesday invited INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu to defend it.

The meeting of the committee chaired by Aisha Dukku came after Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara had on Tuesday explained that both chambers of the National Assembly could not resume to consider the budget of INEC as expected because the relevant committees of both the Senate and House of Representatives have not done their work.
