INEC declares Kogi election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  has declared Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State inclusive.

INEC said it arrived at the verdict, after the number of cancelled votes outnumbered the number with which the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  Abubakar Audu, led incumbent governor, Idris Wada, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

INEC is to announce the date for supplementary elections later, which according to the electoral act, should be held within a week of declaration of the inconclusive results.

The APC garnered 52.39% of total votes cast, PDP, 43.13%, whicl the other political parties put together garnered 4.48% of votes cast in the state.
