BANDITS ATTACKS: Villagers take corpse to Government House in protest

The Independent National Electoral Commission has issued certificate of return to the Zamfara State Governor-elect, Mohammed Mattawale.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, while presenting the certificate, said there are 809 pre-election cases pending in various courts, challenging the conduct of primaries by political parties.

“I want to reiterate the importance of conducting proper primaries before elections in order to reduce the spate of litigation associated with them. At the moment, there are 809 pre-election cases pending in various courts across the country challenging the conduct of primaries by political parties for 2019 general elections.”

Apart from the governor, the commission also issued the certificate of return to the Deputy Governor-elect, and Senators-elect at the Commission’s Electoral Institute in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the governor-elect after the presentation promise to ensure that Zamfara state is transformed during his government. He also sought the support of the people as he promised inclusive governance.
Recall that INEC had declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections in Zamfara state following the ruling by Supreme Court which voided all the votes cast for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the elections because the party did not hold valid party primaries as required by law.
