Again, INEC puts off Rivers rerun election

Published

on

The Rivers State Legislative rerun elections have again proven to be a hard nut for INEC to  crack, as it has postponed the scheduled elections in the state over security concerns.

It would be recalled that INEC had fixed July 30 for the rerun elections in some parts of the state after suspending the exercise over widespread violence the last time it held the rerun elections in the state.

INEC, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, maintained that it was ready to conclude the rerun election within the shortest possible time but the enabling environment must be provided by the political actors.

It also cited last Saturday’s bombing of its office in Khana local government area of the state as a sign of prevailing danger.
