Published

The INEC card reader called to question the viability of the tool for a successful election, as the ones deployed to the polling booth where President Goodluck Jonathan was to cast his vote decided to malfunction.

For a number of minutes the president, his wife Dame Jonathan and hundreds of people were kept waiting as the card reader in the polling booth developed problems, and was unable to be used for the accreditation process for a good number of minutes.

The president had to wait over 30 minute before the card reader could function, for him and his wife to be accredited.

Speaking to reporters afterward, the president still expressed confidence that the elections process will be conducted successfully.

He called on Nigerians to be patient with the process, in spite of the hic-cups, adding that many leaders of other countries had been calling to express their goodwill.

He reiterated his call for Nigerians to be peaceful during the elections.
