PDP caused Buhari's sickness, APC chieftain claims

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his prayer for God to grant Nigerians the patience to bear with his government as it sought to rebuild the economy of the country which he said was badly mismanaged by previous administrations.

The president stated this when he hosted a delegation of judges led by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Walter Onnoghen, at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Friday.

Buhari lamented the mismanagement of oil revenues by previous administrations, arguing that his government was contending with the great challenge of rebuilding the economy amidst dwindling revenues, and called for kind understanding and patience from Nigerians.

“I have said it so many times, I don’t mind saying it now to you because some of you may not have even the time to listen to radio or watch television as regularly as other people do.

“From 1999 to 2014, Nigeria has never realised so much resources since our independence, never, because the average production – go to any renowned financial or economic institution in the world; they know Nigeria produced an average of – (was) 2.1 million barrel per day at an average cost of 100 dollars per barrel.

“But when we came in it crashed to 37 dollars per barrel, and we overlooked saving and there was no saving.

“So really, we have just started working and we hope God in his infinite mercy would give Nigerians the patience to tolerate us’’, The president stated.

President Buhari also said that the state of the nation’s prisons was a national scandal, disclosing that many prisons were overcrowded by 90 per cent.

He said there was urgent need to put in place new measures to quickly decongest the prisons across the country.

Buhari said the call became necessary not only in the interest of justice but to save the cost of prisons’ maintenance and improve the welfare of prisoners.

“We need a new approach to prison congestion. It is a national scandal that many prisons are overcrowded by 90 per cent.

“Urgent new measures should be put place to speedily decongest the prisons not only in the interest of justice but to save cost of prisons’ maintenance and welfare of prisoners.

“My Attorney General is advocating establishment of courts inside the prisons to speed up decongestion”, the president said.

On review of the conditions of service of judicial staff, Buhari directed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation to take up the issue with the Salary and Wages Commission and advise him for prompt action.

He stated that his administration was well aware of the challenges facing the judiciary, while pledging that the increased budgetary allocation to the judiciary in the 2017 fiscal year would be sustained.

Buhari commended the judiciary for establishing special courts to expedite corruption trial and other criminal cases, noting that the stability of the country depended greatly on the Judiciary and Police.

Earlier, Onnoghen thanked God for healing President Buhari.

He then reassured the president that the judiciary would continue to do its utmost for the country.

He’s still very angry, and he cannot hide his annoyance. Although we are all tired of the same complaint over and over, but there’s nothing we can do to stop Buhari from complaining

Two years after, Buhari is still saying this nonsense! Buhari, you’re voted in to solve problems, not to have fun. You inheriting mess from previous government is not our headache, it is yours, so deal with it without boring us with your new found national anthem

Buhari should accept what he met in Nigeria and work towards its betterment. This is his government now, not PDP’s, he make it better and leave the presidential seat with good image.
