Bandits raid Katsina village, abduct 15 women

Despite the ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to end insecurity in the country, a group of bandits have attacked Wagini village of Batsari local government area of Katsina State.

The incident which left several residents injured, had one person killed.

According to information gathered, the bandits attacked the village in the early hours of Saturday with guns.

They shot sporadically at the villagers while some properties were also set ablaze. Among the properties burnt were cars, and houses which belonged to residents of the village.

The injured residents in the attack were rushed to the Katsina General Hospital in the morning while the deceased in incident was buried after Janaza prayer.

Meanwhile, reports reaching our correspondent had it that residents of the village have started deserting their houses after the attack.

It was also gathered that the attack launched by the bandits may be a reprisal from the group following one of their members that was killed by the Yan Sakai (civilian task force) some days ago.

“We believed the attack and killing was a sort of revenge,” a resident said.

Meanwhile, the Katsina state Police Public Relation Officer, SP Gambo Isah has confirmed the matter, saying efforts were ongoing to nip banditry in the bud in the state.
