I was almost losing hope in Nigeria— IBB

Former military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has expressed confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari to end the insecurity problems facing the country.

The former head of state while addressing journalists at his hilltop residence on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State urged Nigerians to exercise patience with Buhari on the fulfilment of different promises, he made during the campaign.

“Buhari has the capacity to deal with the challenges but Nigerians need to be patient with the president.

“Buhari is not disposed to idle talk, he is known to be a man of his words.” Babangida said.

Babangida explained that President Buhari had reiterated his administration’s commitment to end insurgency in the North-East and other security challenges across the country during his second term in office.

Her, however, asked Nigerians to “Hold Buhari by his words,” stressing that the “resurgence of insecurity was but a temporary setback which would be overcome with time.”

On development and growth, Babangida said Buhari has what it takes to move the country forward in this second term, adding that what is required now is for Nigerians to rally round the President to succeed in the task ahead.

He implored Nigerians to embrace the spirit of unity while they shun all kinds of behaviour that can aid division among them.
