Intimidated, GEJ now to handover May 29

Minister ‎of information, Patricia Akwashiki said on Wednesday, that outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan will now hand over to incoming President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, and no more May 28 as had been originally proposed by the Jonathan administration.

It was earlier reported that a handover dinner on May 28 would mark the change of baton, which was roundly rejected by the APC.

Akwashiki, who made the clarification while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, what she meant earlier was that all handover briefs being coordinated by the Secretary To The Government Of The Federation (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim, would be ready by May 28, at a dinner to be hosted by Jonathan for Buhari.

She said, “the President is not handing over power on May 28, he is handing over power on May 29. We have started the transition and it is ongoing. We are submitting our handover notes to the Office of the SGF. The President is still the President until May 29 when Gen. Buhari takes his oath of office and resumes as the President of the Federal Republic.”
