IPOB confirms missing leader Nnamdi Kanu, has been found

The Indigenous People of Biafra has confirmed that the photos and video which flooded the internet on Friday was indeed its missing leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

A video, and photos showing Kanu praying in Jerusalem was widely circulated on the internet on Friday. There were speculations that the photos and the video might have been doctored.

But in a statement by the group’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB confirmed that the video and the photos were real. It said Kanu was indeed found in Jerusalem at the Wailing Wall, where he joined other faithful to offer prayers.

“Fellow Biafrans, friends of Biafra, enemies of Biafra , men and women of goodwill and of good conscience across the world, we wish to reliably inform you that the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, prayed today at the Wailing Wall in the Holy City of David in Jerusalem Live today, October 19, 2018.

“Biafrans, be resolute, this is the beginning of the struggle for Biafra’s independence. We thank God, Almighty God, for his protection and safety.”

Kanu and his parents’ whereabouts had remained unknown since September 14, 2017 when some soldiers of Nigeria Army allegedly invaded his house in Afara Ukwu in Umuahia, Abia State.

The invasion took place during a military exercise in the South-East codenamed “Operation Python Dance ll”. Many youngmen, both members and non – members of IPOB, which has since been outlawed by government, allegedly were killed during the operation.

IPOB had accused the military of being responsible for its leader’s disappearance and consistently called on the Federal Government to produce him and his parents.

Kanu who practices Judaism, was facing trial for treason in Nigeria before his disappearance.

Meanwhile, a former New Media Director for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Deji Adeyanju, has said that Kanu’s reappearance may not be unconnected to the 2019 elections.

Alleging that Kanu’s greatest weakness was his love for money, Adeyanju said that the IPOB leader may be broke and needed “to cash out majorly in this election period.”

He wrote in a series of tweets: “I hear Nnamdi Kanu is back again, I guess he wants to play a role in the 2019 elections.

“My advice to him is simple: Don’t mess it up again this time around. He had a fantastic opportunity the last time and messed it up by calling on people to boycott Anambra polls.

“If he comes again with his no election in Igbo land then we all know who he is working for.

“The guy’s greatest weakness is his love for money. Ask any of the South East governors, they will confirm this. The guy loves money too much. Hope he proves many of us wrong this time.

“The guy may be broke and needs to cash out majorly in this election period. One thing is very clear, Igbos have a major stake in this election. I will not spare anyone who works against the possibility of an Igbo Vice President in 2019 and potential 2023 Presidency.

“I love my brother Nnamdi Kanu very much and like I have always said, I wish him the best at all times. I hope and pray he makes the right decision this time.

“I always mean well even if I come across as though I don’t. Welcome back bro.”
