What is good for Boko Haram suspects is also good for Biafra activists, IPOB urges judge

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) seems to have embarked on a mission to test its popularity against President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) among the people of the South East region.

The group has ordered its members in Abia State especially in Aba to sit at home during a planned visit by President Buhari.

It has also said it will hold a referendum on the sovereign state of Baifra on the 16th of February, the same day, INEC has fixed for Nigeria’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

A statement by IPOB spokesman of the secessionist group, Emma Powerful, said the group would come out with the modalities for the referendum in a few days time.

The outlawed group said that Buhari is not welcomed in the city of Aba and urged its members to make sure the President meets an empty Enyimba Stadium where he will attend a rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari is scheduled to be in Aba in Abia State on Tuesday, January 29, to commission the 9.5MW Independent Power Plant, at Ariaria Market in Osisioma Ngwa council area.

He will also during the visit participate in the APC rally at the Enyimba Stadium.

The statement by Powerful said: “All family members of IPOB within Aba metropolis are hereby instructed to observe a mini sit at home tomorrow (today) 29th January 2019 in total boycott of the impostor, Jubril AL-Sudani who is slated to be in Aba for an Islamic evil APC rally.

“We must ensure that Jubril meets an empty stadium today because his murderous presence is not welcome in our land. Do not go out for any reason, do not engage in any zoo political discussion as their Boko Haram and Janjaweed army are on standby to kill. Stay indoors from 6am to 4pm.”

The statement further read: “We wish to announce officially to the people of Biafra both home and in the Diaspora, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom that our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently in London to join his family and see his child he hadn’t seen because of his illegal detention.

“He will also discuss with IPOB top family members in London to finalise the way forward for the Biafra referendum that will hold on February 16, 2019.”

The statement added: “Kanu is currently in London meeting with IPOB high command in Europe to perfect plans for the referendum which will go side by side with the February 16 presidential poll.”
