IPOB vows to deal with illegal enforcers of sit-at-home in South-East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a stern warning to politicians and leaders of Igbo extraction to cease using their leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s name for personal or political gain.

In a press statement on Monday, IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful alleged that some Igbo leaders were exploiting Kanu’s detention to advance their political ambitions, while secretly collaborating with the Federal Government to keep him in custody.

IPOB emphasized that Kanu’s incarceration was a result of his fight for Biafran freedom, not Nigerian politics. The group commended genuine efforts by some Igbo politicians working for Kanu’s release and vowed to expose those using IPOB’s successes for personal gain.

The statement further warned that Kanu’s continued detention would lead to economic and security downturns in Nigeria, and that IPOB would thwart the political ambitions of those exploiting Kanu’s suffering.

It reads, “Some of these Abuja sycophants take glory in IPOB matters to resuscitate their dwindling political influence in the South-East. We are watching them closely. We are advising them to stop taking the glory of IPOB’s successes or be called out publicly.

“However, we commend those patriotic and sincere Igbo politicians and leaders who are genuinely working for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. We encourage them never to give up. We are taking stock of everyone’s work for or against IPOB among the Igbo leaders and politicians. In due time, everyone will receive their reward, whether it be good or bad.

“We want the Federal Government and her political jobbers from the South-East to understand that as long as Kanu is illegally detained, the Nigerian economy and security will continue to be in shambles. Those using the suffering and incarceration of Kanu and IPOB members to advance their political interests will be disappointed and will watch how IPOB will scuttle the political ambitions of those from the East.”

This warning highlights IPOB’s growing frustration with Igbo politicians perceived to be using Kanu’s name for personal gain, while also underscoring the group’s commitment to securing Kanu’s release and achieving Biafran independence.
