Iran frees 10 captured U.S. sailors

Authorities in Iran have freed 10 American sailors who were captured after their naval boats entered Iranian waters near Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf.

The sailor were put through rigorous questioning by Iranian officials who wanted to ascertain their motives while also demanding an apology from the U.S government for the actions of the sailors who entered Iranian territory without prior notice.

But after carrying out their own findings, Iranian officials say they deemed the incident accidental.

“The evidence suggests that they unintentionally entered the Iranian waters because of the failure of their navigational system,” IRGC spokesman Ramazan Sharif said.
