Prosecutors in the US are accusing an Iranian identified as Behzad Mesri of computer fraud after he allegedly hacked into HBO, leaking Game of Thrones scripts.

Mesri who is still in Iran is wanted for the leaks which were released prior to the broadcast of Game of Thrones series seven and he is also accused of demanding a $6m (£4.5m) ransom.

According to acting US attorney Joon Kim, Mesri who is accused of computer fraud, wire fraud, extortion and identity theft could not be arrested immediately, but he would face the consequences.

“He will never be able to travel outside of Iran without fear of being arrested and brought here,” Mr Kim said.

Mr Mesri, who has been added to the FBI’s most wanted list, according to prosecutors allege that he had been involved in a campaign to deface US websites.
