Iranian leader accusses US of instigating Muslims to fight against Muslims

The United States of America has been accused by Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of trying to stoke “regional crisis” between his country and Saudi Arabia.

Khamenei who made the comments during broadcast on state television said any power seeking to challenge Iran would be defeated and also called on the US to leave the Middle East.

“One of the ways to confront Iran is to provoke inexperienced rulers of the region,” Khamenei said, in an apparent reference to Saudi Arabia’s 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“Americans are trying to provoke Saudi Arabia against Tehran… Their aim is to create more regional crisis … to push Muslims to fight against Muslims.

“If these governments gain more wisdom, they will not confront Iran. If they confront Iran, they will be defeated.”

Khamenei comments are coming days after Hassan Rouhani, the president of Iran kicked against moves by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside his US counterpart Donald Trump, regarding a potential “new nuclear deal”.

Rouhani accused the United States and France of acting unilaterally in announcing potential plans to reshape the landmark nuclear deal signed between Iran and world powers in 2015.

The Iranian leader questioned the move while speaking on Wednesday in Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz.
