Iranian Supreme Leader accuses US of forming ISIS

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has delivered a damning verdict on the US accusing it of forming terror group, Islamic State popularly known as ISIS.

Ayatollah also said Washington’s fight against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) was “a lie” while noting that the US is a ‘terrorist country’, so there is no chance of normalising ties with it.

“You [the United States] and your agents are the source of instability in the Middle East… Who created Islamic State? America… America’s claim of fighting against Islamic State is a lie,” Khamenei said on Monday in a meeting with high-ranking Iranian officials, according to his official website.

Recall that in 1979, Iran and the United States cut diplomatic ties shortly after Iran’s Islamic revolution, and its enmity to Washington has long been a rallying point for hardline supporters of Khamenei in Iran.
