Iran's missile launch puts Trump in aggressive mood

Iran’s latest test-firing of a ballistic missile has reportedly put newly sworn-in American President Donald Trump in a foul mood with reports suggesting White House has put Tehran on notice in a move which could further increase tension in the region.

Though, White House has not given any inkling as to what sanctions will be imposed on Iran for its missile test, Trump’s body language suggests the imposing of new sanctions, to curb what he sees as defiance of a nuclear deal negotiated in 2015 by then-President Barack Obama.

However, Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, gave an insight as to what to expect when he delivered a fiery statement making clear that Obama’s less confrontational approach towards Iran was over.

Flynn said that instead of being thankful to the United States for the nuclear deal, “Iran is now feeling emboldened.”

“As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice,” he told reporters in his first appearance in the White House press briefing room.

Recall that a section of the U.N. resolution 2231 calls on Iran “not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology” even as its latest missile test has ruffled feathers.
