ISIS fingered in Istanbul attack, as death toll hits 36

The Islamic State of Iraq of the Levant (ISIL, or ISIS) group has been fingered to being behind the deadly suicide bomb attack which claimed at least 36 lives at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says the suicide bombers who carried out the deadly act were likely to be members of the dreaded ISIL terrorist group.

In his comments after the suicide bomb blast, Mr. Yildirim said three suicide bombers were involved in the attack late on Tuesday evening.

“According to the most recent information, 36 people have lost their lives,” Yildirim told journalists at the scene.

“The findings of our security forces point at the Daesh organisation as the perpetrators of this terror attack,” he said, using the Arabic acronym for ISIL.

The prime minister added that there were “many injured”. Other officials gave numbers ranging from 60 to nearly 150.
