ISLAMISATION FEAR: CAN wants Nigeria out of OIC, other Int'l religious groups

Apparently as a result of fears of alleged plot by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to Islamise Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on the National Assembly to prevail on the Federal Government to withdraw from the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

CAN also demanded that the lawmakers make a list of all international organisation Nigeria is a member of and ensure the country exit everyone with religious coloration.

The Christian body made this call when its leaders gathered to discuss challenges facing the Nigerian church at the Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro.

Present at the meeting organised by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, were the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; the Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo; the General Overseer, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Archbishop Mike Okonkwo; and former CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

The details of the meeting was made known in a statement Ayokunle’s media aide, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, released to newsmen in Abuja. He explained that the body condemned President Buhari-led administration’s decision to lead Nigeria into the Islamic Coalition Against Terrorism through an executive fiat.

The Christian body further urged the National Assembly to see that northern states issue Certificates of Occupancy to churches in the region.

Part of the statement read, “CAN calls on the National Assembly to compile the list of all organisations that Nigeria belongs to and all the treaties signed with a view to dropping all the religious ones.

“That we declare the inability of the state governments to pay workers’ salaries and allowances as and when due as unacceptable and call on the federal and state’s governments to work together to address this.”

Other things CAN urged the Federal Government to address were infrastructural breakdown in the nation, which will help “stop the untimely death of our people and medical tourism abroad;” to declare a state of emergency on unemployment in the nation and to set up machinery towards the provision of employment for graduates.

The body further lamented the inability of the security agencies in the country to stop the rampaging Fulani herdsmen from wanton killings of Nigerians.

It also demanded that the Nigerian Inter-religious Council be revived, which according to CAN, had in the past fostered interaction between Christian and Muslim leaders in the country.
This is coming just as CAN recently cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from wishing away the plot to Islamise Nigeria.

Fine we understand CAN is trying its best to protect the interest of its members, but at this stage, the body is over doing its protection already, it needs to calm down before people start seeing CAN as insane

Christians don’t bother I don’t know why CAN is stressing itself, we all know Buhari can never turn Nigerian into a Muslim country no matter how hard he tries. CAN needs to keep cool, they are appearing in the news too much lately.
