Jihad has been launched in Nigeria, Danjuma, Christian leaders cry out

The Northern Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) which comprises Theophilus Danjuma and other Christian elders from the region, has reiterated its position that there was a calculated attempt at Islamizing the country.

NCEF stated that the crisis unfolding in the country resulted from the conflict between constitutional democracy and Sharia.

Recall that the group had issued a statement in July alleging that the country was being Islamized, citing different instances.

In its follow-up statement signed by Solomon Asemota, NCEF chairman, the group restated its position that a Jihad had been launched in the country.

“The objective of the Islamists (political Islam) is to supplant the constitution of Nigeria with Sharia ideology as the source of legislation in the nation,” it said.

“The conflict between democracy as national ideology and Sharia as a usurping ideology is responsible for the crisis unfolding in Nigeria. The nation is in the throes of Jihad.”

The NCEF challenged Muslim leaders, who it said were denying the existence of a jihad in the country, to clarify pronouncements like the declaration of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, that their war was against unbelievers.
