It’s official! Senator Godswill Akpabio loses bid to return to Senate

Akpabio who was in PDP all through, says party did nothing in 16 years

Senator Godswill Akpabio has lost in his bid to return to the Senate chambers to represent Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District.

Akpabio who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost to Christopher Ekpenyong of the PDP.

The lawmaker was also the Senate Minority leader, before his defection, lost in virtually all the local government areas making up the senatorial district.

The Returning Officer, Professor Peter Ogban who announced the result, said Ekpenyong polled a total of 118,215 votes to beat Akpabio of who scored 83,158 votes.
