Ivory Coast coach Michel Dussuyer resigns

The Federation of Ivorian Football (FIF) have announced the resignation Coach Michel Dussuyer as the head coach of the Ivory Coast senior national team on Sunday.

The defending champions crashed out quite early from the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon, where they finished third in Group C having failed to win a single game, and so, could not advance to the second round of the competition.

Dussuyer, who was appointed in 2015 to guided the Elephants to the 2017 AFCON, has since their exit decided to stand down as head coach and this was announced on the official website of FIF on Sunday.

“The appropriate measures will be put in place to find his successor,” a statement from the FIF read, after hailing the former Benin and Guinea coach’s “professionalism, commitment and human quality.”

After the announcement of his resignation, the French technician made a statement and responded to some questions which were published on the Federation’s website.

“I have not found the key to put the team on a good dynamic,” Dussuyer said.
“It’s been 18 month that I am at the head of the framing technique Elephants. When I am arrived, I knew the difficulty of the task that awaited me. I am introduced to bottom in this mission by trying to every time to achieve the objectives which were to me confided.

“The aim was to go further in the competition to defend our title. And not pass this first round, it is a cruel disillusionment. I am aware of the disappointment that it has been able to generate among all the Ivorians. But it must they know that I am extremely disappointed,” he stated.

When asked about his future, the Frenchman said, he will return to the house; it’s been 9 years he’s been working, and would like to take a rest “a bit”.
