Iwobi makes two assists in Arsenal win over Southampton

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, was involved in two out of Arsenal’s three goals that saw of Southampton in a Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Iwobi made the starting line-up for the Gunners, who came from behind to grab a 3-2 win over their relegation threatened visitors.

Shane Long scored the opening goal in the 17th minute to put Southampton ahead for a short while as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang drew the Gunners level 11 minutes later with his sixth goal in seven starts for Arsenal.

Danny Welbeck made it 2-1 for Arsenal in the 38th minute when he fired in from Iwobi’s delightful pass.

Charlie Austin restored parity for Southampton in the 73rd minute but Welbeck got the winner eight minutes later from Iwobi’s assist.

Both teams ended the game with 10 men as Jack Stephens and Mohamed Elneny were both sent off in stoppage time.

Arsenal will travel to Moscow to face CSKA in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg encounter.
