Nigerian trio of Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses and Stephen Odey were in action for their respective clubs Arsenal, Chelsea and Zurich, who defeated their opponents on Thursday night.

Iwobi came in as an 86th-minute substitute for Arsenal who beat Sporting Lisbon 1-0 thanks to a 77th-minute winner by Danny Welbeck.

The Gunners have now gone 11 games without dropping a point in all competitions as they also retained their place at the top of Europa League Group E.

Moses returned to the matchday squad of Chelsea, but joined the game in the 57th minute as Ruben Loftus-Cheek hit a brilliant hat-trick to seal a 3-1 win against BATE Borisov.

Former MFM star, Odey bagged the winning goal in FC Zurich 3-2 home win against German Bundesliga side, Bayern Leverkusen.

Antonio Marchesano and Toni Domgjoni were the other scorers for the home side while a brace by Karim Bellarabi for the visitors was not enough to earn them a point.

Odey netted the winner 12 minutes from time to send the home fans into wild jubilation. It was his ninth goal in all competitions for FC Zurich this season.

Elsewhere, Samuel Kalu was on for 90 minutes in his French club, Girondins Bordeaux 2-1 away loss to Russian outfit, Zenit St Petersburg.
