Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi has opened his goalscoring account with Everton in their 4-2 victory over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Iwobi, who joined the Toffees at the start of the season from Arsenal, scored one of the two late goals that saw of the League One club in the second round of the competition.

It was the first time Iwobi played a full match for Everton, having missed the first two Premier League games of the season and playing as a substitute in their defeat against Aston Villa last Friday.

Bruno Andrade levelled for Lincoln but Iwobi and Richarlison scored late in the second half to take Everton into a third-round tie at Sheffield Wednesday.

“It will be another tough match in this competition against Sheffield Wednesday next. A Championship club who have started well and we will think about them when we have to play them,” said Everton boss Marco Silva.

Elsewhere, Leicester beat Premier League rivals Newcastle 4-2 on penalties at St James’ Park to reach the Carabao Cup third round, with Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho absent.
