Iwobi starts as Arsenal beat West Ham to secure first win of season

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, was on for 45 minutes as Arsenal defeated West Ham to seal their first victory in the English Premier League this season.

Iwobi, who scored in his last appearance at Stamford Bridge last week, was subbed off at halftime as coach Unai Emery introduced Alexandre Lacazette.

The Gunners have lost to champions Manchester City and Chelsea this season, but came from behind to beat their visitors 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

West Ham captain Marko Arnautovic put the visitors in front on 25 minutes, but his effort was cancelled five minutes after by an equaliser from Nacho Monreal.

Arsenal then went ahead for the first timeon 70 minutes as Lacazette’s volley across the area deflected in off Issa Diop, before substitute Danny Welbeck wrapped it all up on 92 minutes.

The victory is Emery’s first competitive victory with Arsenal since he took over from Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

In the other Premier League fixtures played concurrently, Everton were held 2-2 by Bournemouth, Huddersfield also grew goalless against Cardiff City, as Leicester beat Southampton 2-1.
