Japanese Olympic largesse not ready, says Mikel

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has revealed that the cash donation of $390,000 made to the team by Japanese doctor and philanthropist Katsuya Takasu is yet to be shared amidst speculation that the money has been secretly spent.

“There’s absolutely nothing wrong in accepting cash gifts from Dr. Takasu, but you can’t stop people from talking. They have their opinion,” he said.

He added that, “The cheque is yet to clear, so we haven’t gotten the money yet but as soon as it is cleared all players will get their share as agreed by the team.”
