Jimmy Hendrix’s siblings settle feud after 45yrs

Published

Remember the rock star Jimmy Hendrix, the legendary guitarist of the 60s, the one your parents or their contemporaries tell you about, the very one the media writes about when they recall past legends?
And did you remember he died young, at age 27 after achieving so much within a short space of time. But he had a substance addiction problem and suffocated on his own vomit during a barbiturate overdose in London in 1970.
He left no will at the time of his death, because he must have thought he was too young to have one. Well, after his untimely demise, sadly, his siblings locked horns in a prolonged inheritance feud over his estate.

According to Seattle Times, the family has finally reached agreement after more than four decades of fighting over the dead man’s assets. These assets also includes the subsequent earnings from the sale of merchandise including posters and T-shirts that used the rock star’s name.
Hendrix’s adopted sister, Janie Hendrix, and his brother, Leon Hendrix, have finally reached an agreement in court.
Janie controls a company, Experience Hendrix LLC, which owns the right to the estate, while her uncle Leon operates HendrixLicensing.com. Janie was accusing Leon of infringing their trademark. Hendrix’s father, Al, had left Janie the entire estate estimated at $80 million when he died in 2002.
