Poll Results: Should churches open their accounts for scrutiny? See how Nigerians voted

The Financial Regulatory Council of Nigeria (FRC) recently announced  new regulations that sought to ensure among other things that the accounts of nonprofit organisations including churches are made more open.
The law triggered a number of things including the resignation of the Pastor Enoch Adeboye as the national overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest churches in the country.
It also sparked a confrontation between some government officials that led to the sack of the Mr Jim Obazee, the FRC secretary.
But what do you think, should the accounts of churches be made more open for all, especially members to see?

Is church supposed to be money making organisation? If yes, is church a public or private organization? If it’s a public organization, then churches should open their accounts for scrutiny.

Today, most of the churches are religious organization rather than a living organism‑‑ a live temple of God. The churches of today have a lot of theologies and a lot of doctrines, but no power. They lost their value already, The federal government should go ahead and probe them.

Yes it is. Churches own universities which is a business ventures, so churches have turned to full blown business ventures in Nigeria.

Church universities is different from church administration. If government wants to probe or audit church universities ,that’s not a problem

The truth is that, biblically, there is no place where it is demanded that a church should divulge their account even to their members talk more of public, but there is nothing bad in revealing the money they generate yearly to their members but totally insane for government to pokenose into the accounts of a church, church is not a business venture

I don’t know why we are making mountain out of mole hill, pastors have never forced members to pay tithes and offerings, so what is the issue?

The church and the public, two different entities! We can’t think of such, the church owes no one!

The whole mess started with a Judas in RCCG and he has started reaping his reward. If he ever survive this challenge against God, himself and his generation yet unborn will forever tell the story. All those who support him or shared his mind, to expose the church ,which is the body of Christ, to public disgrace will share in the curse of God he has incurred on himself and his generation. Let it be know to the person or the body or whosoever put this argument or voting, disgracing the body of Christ whom Jesus has laboured for and sacrifice his life, on this blog and the owner of this blog, that your curses shall be greater than that of him who started the whole mess. I speak as an authority from God!

Our churches that have branches in US, UK, France etc, should tell us that they are not submitting their account to government over there. These churches have gone outside church. They have schools which their members can’t send their wards due to high school fees, some have airlines etc, and these businesses must render their account to government. Any religion bodies operating should render their account to government, because they do it in their branches all over the world.
