Jonathan, Buhari in secret meeting
Even though details of the closed-door meeting were not made public, sources within the villa confirmed that the meeting dwelled around the preparations for the May 29 handover date.
A presidency source said that at the meeting, President Jonathan assured Buhari of his full support in the course of his incoming administration, even as he urged him “to sustain the tenets of democracy which he had already enshrined in the country’s politics”.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Buhari promised that he would also sustain ongoing reforms already started by Jonathan in certain sectors in the country along with his own new policies and reforms.
