Your campaign is mere drama and political, Shettima blasts BBOG

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan did not show any sympathy for the families of the abducted Chibok girls or the people and government of Borno State after the girls were taken from their hostels.

Shettima, who was speaking when he hosted former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Government House, Maiduguri on Monday, said former President Jonathan only called him 19 days after the abduction.

Shettima, who praised Obasanjo as a man of courage, who is committed to national unity and development, said he was convinced that Obasanjo would have rescued the missing Chibok girls if he were the president at the time the insurgents seized the 279 girls from their hostels.

The governor said: “In our own case, Your Excellency, after the Chibok abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in April, 2014, it took 19 days for me to receive a call from the Presidency.

“I brought this mainly to show the difference, because we will only appreciate scenarios when we make comparisons,’’ Shettima said.

Earlier, Obasanjo had praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts at ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast, expressing optimism that the insurgency was in sight.

The former President also said he was happy that socio-economic activities are returning to Maiduguri are that things are getting back to normal
