JONATHAN TO SAGAY: Under your watch as aide to Buhari, corruption blossoms

Published

on

Professor Itse Sagay has been dubbed a man who spends too much time poking his nose into other people’s affairs and too little focus on his own business.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan said this is why despite Sagay’s role as aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on corruption, various issues of grafts still exist in the government.

Jonathan was responding to a statement by Sagay, who is chairman of Presidential Committee on Anti-Corruption (PACAC), that Nigerians would have been crossing the Sahara to Libya had former President Goodluck Jonathan stayed in office for another three years.

Jonathan who responded through one of his former aides, Reno Omokri, debunked Sagay’s claim and explained that current facts are there to disprove Buhari’s aide on corruption.

He maintained that Nigeria’s economy was better under his tenure than the present administration, adding that records have shown that more Nigerians are migrating out of the country in this government than they did during his.

He said, “The World Bank says our economy was better under Jonathan than it is now. Transparency International says corruption is worse today than under Jonathan. The Global Hunger Index says Nigerians are hungrier today than under Jonathan.

“Nigeria moved from 4th most terrorized nation in the world in 2015 to 3rd most terrorized nation in the Global Terrorism Index for 2017.

“Furthermore, under President Muhammadu Buhari, the United Nations reveals that there has been a massive increase in the number of Nigerians fleeing Nigeria via the desert with 602,000 leaving annually and 27,000 dying every year either in the Sahara Desert or the Mediterranean Sea. So by what parameter is Sagay using to make his jaundiced judgment?

“Furthermore, under former President Jonathan, Nigeria was the first nation in the world to evacuate her citizens from Libya during the Arab Spring.

“Dr. Jonathan would never keep quiet if Nigerians are being sold as slaves in Libya. If President Buhari can call Nigerians “criminals” to the Telegraph of U.K, why should Nigerians be surprised when he does not act to free us from slavery in Libya?

“Professor Sagay spends too much time poking his nose into other people’s affairs and too little focus on his own business, that is why under his watch as chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, PACAC, Maina got recalled, reinstated, double promoted and still received salary (according to his lawyer).

“That is why the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, was able to award $25 billion worth of contracts without due process.

“That is why $40 million was found in an Ikoyi apartment and Nigerians still do not know who the money belongs to.
“That is why there has been unbridled looting around President Buhari to the extent that the Presidential Clinic at Aso Rock does not have ordinary Panadol, despite the billions allocated to it under President Buhari.

“My advice to Professor Itse Sagay is that while he may be unjustifiably pointing one finger at former President Jonathan, four of his own fingers are justifiably pointing back to him and his master.”

This is an attack on Sagay’s persona, I’m sure he didn’t do his research on Jonathan’s administration before going out with his diss.

You call this attack? The fool called for war and they gave him just a casual fight, Jonatha’s aides have not even attacked him yet, let Sagay respond and you’ll see what its like to launch attack

Jonathan’s administration was easier than what we currently have now, but under Buhari’s government, the super eagles have managed to secure a world cup qualification, this is equally an achievement

None of Buhari’s aides have the right to speak ill of Jonathan’s government until their principal, start beating Jonathan’s records. If Buhari’s success still cannot supersede Jonathan’s, they should not talk

Jonathan was not really a thief but doesn’t see anything bad in it, but buhari claims to be an innocent man but partially overlook people dear to him when they steal, so looking at this, both of them are birds of same feather.

Jonathan is a shameless man, by now, he should have remained silent whenever corruption is mentioned.
