Published

After about five days in detention, which sparked rumours over his health, erstwhile Chief Security Officer to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Gordon Obuah has regained his freedom from his employees, the Department of State Services (DSS).

A family source told Sahara reporters that Obuah was released by his employers around 10:30 pm, Tuesday night, hours after he had addressed newsmen that he was not dead, and that he was “hale and hearty”.

The DSS had presenting him to the public yesterday to douse rumours that he had died in detention.

After declaring that he was “hale and hearty,” at a press conference he addressed at the conference room of the service headquarters in Abuja, Obuah said he was being treated with dignity by officials of the agency.

His family had earlier accused the agency of depriving him of food, water and medications, and challenged the security agency to either release him or charge him to court to answer to whatever allegation it has against him rather than detain him unlawfully.
