Ibadan family heads rally round Olubadan, give ‘Gov Ajimobi’s kings’ 7 days to withdraw deposition threat

There was pandemonium at the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji during the installation of Mogajis and Baales on Monday when unknown gunmen opened fire within the premises of the palace.

Reports say hell was let loose when four heavily armed men arrived the palace in a black Toyota Sienna shooting sporadically at about 11:45am causing chaos and shattering the glass windows of choice cars parked within the premises.

On hearing the gunshots, journalists who gathered to witness and cover the occasion and other dignitaries, all took to their heels to escape being hit by stray bullets.

However, reports say the shooting did not stop the coronation inside the palace as the gunmen did not enter the building but dared those inside to come out to confront them.

Sources say the gunmen held sway for about 10 minutes before they retreated towards Molete end of Popoyemoja in the black Toyota Sienna which they used to storm the palace.

In recent past, the decision by Governor Abiola Ajimobi to install 32 beaded crown-wearing kings in Ibadanland has caused division in the state with 10 out of 11 members of Olubadan-in-Council throwing their weight behind the governor saying the move would be beneficial to Ibadanland as a whole.

However, the move was rejected by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Senator Rashidi Ladoja who have both reportedly refused to support the controversial initiative.

When the king is ready to deal with the gunmen, all of them will die one after the other leaving one that will confess to the world, you don’t threaten a king and all that belongs to Him.

Their sender can’t be anyone but Ajimobi who wants to die untimely death. I really pity his family, Olubadan will just kill him like Chicken and the government won’t be able to do anything to it because Oba no dey go to court.
