Judiciary workers threaten nationwide shut down if Kogi govt executes planned sack of CJ

Judiciary workers have frowned at the recommended removal of the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasir Ajanah.

The workers under the auspices of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have also threatened a nationwide shutdown of the judicial system should the Kogi State government execute the recommendation of the State House of Assembly to remove Ajanah.

Following allegations of gross misconduct, the lawmakers on Wednesday recommended the removal of Ajanah.

But the National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu has sternly warned the government saying all members of the union would be withdrawn from all courts in the country, if that happens.

“We see this action by the lawmakers as an affront to the Judiciary and against doctrine of separation of powers as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended. We also believe that for the Assembly to even deliberate on the matter is subjudice, since the issue is before the court.

“The national headquarters of the union had earlier seek for audience with the Governor on how best to resolve the matter but all do not avail,’’ he said on Thursday.
