Junaid says FG should be held responsible for persisting drum beat of war

A federal lawmaker in the Second Republic, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has said that the Federal Government’s continued silence on remarks capable of breaking up the country by some Nigerians, is what is worsening the situation in the country.

Following the quit notice order to Ndigbo living in the North by northern youths over the agitation for Biafra by some groups in the South-East, different regions of the country are now declaring their readiness to separate from Nigeria.

However, speaking at a public lecture organised by the Mumbayya House, Kano with the theme, “Electoral Democracy and Integrity in Nigeria, Reflections on INEC Transformation 2011-2015,” Junaid Mohammed accused the Federal Government of helping to fan the embers of the present crisis with its silence.

He said, “I must make it clear that lack of brutal frankness on the part of government, when it comes to national issues, appeared to be fuelling these drumbeats of war.

“Various ethnic groups and individuals have been making remarks capable of breaking the unity of Nigeria but I haven’t heard the government as the epitome of statehood calling people to order.”

Meanwhile, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday blamed the situation in the country on the failure of the state to create an inclusive society under the present constitutional arrangements.

The present constitutional arrangements according to him does not guarantee the security of lives, livelihoods and liberties by the agencies saddled with the responsibilities of maintaining law and order.

The acting President further said that insecurity remains one of the greatest challenges that has hindered national development in Nigeria.

Osinbajo stated this when he spoke during the opening session of the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State.

The federal government is also in support of these guys calling for break up. If not, there would have been multiple statements condemning them.

Honestly, I’m even surprised the presidency isn’t saying a word about what’s going on. All of them are just quiet like they are not in the dane country with us. I’m confused!

You are confused because you are stupid. Osinbajo had met with the northern governors concerning the issue.

Silent is golden, the presidency’s quietness cannot be blamed for what’s going on in the country, I’m sure they are planning on how to make things better.

It’s of no use the federal government intervenes in a matter that is under control, Dr Junaid should not raise dust where there is none

There is dust. It’s either blood or water, Biafra must come to pass, Nigeria can’t accommodate us all again
