Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi tests positive for coronavirus

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Bauchi.

The development comes just 24 hours after the governor was tested for the disease by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Governor Mohammed reportedly had contact with the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who had also tested positive for the disease.

The latest confirmation brings to 43 the number of people living with the disease in Nigeria.

Two people out of this figure had been discharged while the remaining 41 are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country.
